RUDEmentary - Quality is Basic
From the first day we all agreed to man this Rude Etiquette ship, we knew that we wanted to steer toward the cut n sew world one day; and that day came sooner than we expected. Above is a little preview of what we've been up to for the last couple of months. Our dear friends at Mister graciously lent a hand to us and let us use their t-shirt fit and fabric to create our first cut n sew tees! The fit is Mister, but the details are Rude Etiquette. The detail in the picture is of our tan patches that we hope will provide a nice contrast piece as well as less branding. Another detail we added was a floral contrasting size panel where we have hand stamped size labels. Yup! HAND STAMPED by yours truly at Rude Etiquette. No one shirt is the same!
So, why plain t-shirts you may ask? Well, we didn't want to get too ahead of ourselves and start, say, a button up. Time is limited as it is for all three of us unfortunatley. We thought that dipping our toes in with a t-shirt would be a nice gradual entrance; and for the most part it has been. We plan on selling some of the tees as blanks and also using some for some new prints we'll have next year. We're also still waiting on a special project that we're hoping to release as a special 1 Year Anniversary piece. It's still a t-shirt, but with a little something extra ; ). We're not trying to be a basic men's line, that's what our good friends at Mr. are for! We're planning on expanding our cut n sew line more in the upcoming year with hopefully a button up and much more! But, as you may know, cut n sew takes a lot of time and money, so please be patient and help us out by picking up some Rude garments!

Tweed Ride 2010 from Steven Greenstreet on Vimeo.
Two of Rude Etiquette's favorite things! Bikes (Penny Farthings!) and TWEED! Get a little bit of past, mixed with present and a litte unique-ness and this visual captures what we at Rude hope to one day accomplish. We don't literally want to capture the essence of this era in time, but we do want to hopefully become timeless...

Facebook Storefront
Some of you may have noticed a new tab on our Facebook page entitled "Storefront". (And if you haven't go check it out!) Well, the "Storefront" is well...a STORE! YUP! A Rude Etiquette online store right on our Facebook page! We made the "soft launch" of the store on Black Friday; which pretty much means we didn't really announce it, but the store is UP! We are very fortunate to have Frankly Rude working at the Equinox Gym in Palo Alto (one of his various jobs). Frank meets many great contacts working at Equinox and picked up a very valuable one about a month ago. It just so happened that this contact was creating an application on Facebook that allows people to sell their goods without ever leaving their Facebook page!
We couldn't let a great opportunity like this pass us! Everybody and their mother uses Facebook, so having a storefront right on Facebook can give us the ability of sharing Rude with mroe people than we could have imagined! We de-activated our "Profile" page and now just have a Page which you can "Like". So, if you haven't already, PLEASE "Like" the page and PLEASE suggest the page to your friends and family!
We're currently in the process of discussing some sort of "Grand Opening" where we might mark down all our older pieces and introduce the NEW project(s) we've been working very hard on! The new product should be done in the next week or so and we're VERY EXCITED to share them with the world! So, please stay tuned and keep checking back on our Facebook page and on the blog!

2 Inch Cuffs
2 Inch Cuffs is a wonderful new website that I discovered through my favorite shoe brand Thorocraft. I reached out to 2" via twitter a while back to express interest in having Rude on the site. They have been wonderful and interested in us since and I hope to continue our relationship. 2" was gracious enough to provide me with their amazingly done media pack; so, head to A Well Worn Garment to see it and read more about this innovative site!

A Well Worn Garment
Yes, I am again taking on a new project and a new site/blog. I tried and failed to create a blog that provided original content many, many, many times (most recently The Death March Formal); but, this time I purchased a URL and set up interviews/photoshoots with actual people. So, I guess there's no turning back, haha! Continue to read more about it!

PICTURE BOOK presents...
LINER NOTES is my very first attempt to review music. I've always wanted to try and review music and I think that PICTURE BOOK format will give me an interesting platform to do it!
For the younger kids who are accustomed with just downloading music, both legally and illegally, liner notes are the printed words inside the album booklet. They let you know who wrote and produced the album/songs and also included the thank you's by the music artist. It was in the liner notes that I discovered new bands when I was younger.
I hope I can be consistent with my reviews of single songs and albums (EP's and LPs). Songs may be more relevant to review in terms of new music, seeing as how getting my hands on albums that have yet to be released may be difficult (unless I download leaked versions which I am currently against). But, I'm excited to expand the coverage that PICTURE BOOK is able to provide and I hope to expand even more!

PS: We're hoping for our cut n' sew t-shirts to be finished by the middle to end of November and will work on a release date. I'm hoping to release them before the new year, but we might have to hold off due to some interestingly big things in the future!
We're also working on ideas for more cut n' sew projects to work on next year! Excited is an understatement folks!

A Proper Update
We know that you guys haven't seen any new product from the Rude Etiquette camp since July. But do not fear! We are always hard at work trying to bring out something new! We're very excited for the near future because we're finally dipping our toes into the cut n' sew world! It's nothing too big right now, we're in the process of producing our own blank t-shirts with a little something extra with one of the shirts! But, we're happy with the progression we've made in less than a year and we hope to make more big strides next year.
The picture above is of some leather patch samples we had made. We think that they turned out beautifully and surprisingly detailed! Our shirts and future product will have these beautiful patches on them that will distinguish them as Rude Etiquette pieces. We are hoping to start expanding away from graphic tees, something that we've wanted to do since Day 1. So, instead of plastering the Rude Etiquette bike on every single piece, we can now add a little bit of our Rude quality instead and start focusing on the details of quality product.
Release dates for the new shirts are still up in the air. If production goes well and in a timely matter, we might release the shirts before the new year. But, if not, we might hold out until 2011. The shirts will also be our first ever collaboration with a close friend/brand of ours (won't be releasing any more information on the collab until the details are final! Sorry!) We're also debating whether or not to try and get something out in the mean time; but, money wise that seems unlikely.
So I hope this holds you guys over for now. I'll try and do product updates a little more frequently.
Hit the jump for more detailed shots of the leather patches!
2010 BKc Fall Varsity Collection
The BKc is now taking pre-orders for their Fall Varsity jackets! Still part of their Made in USA collection we can expect nothing less than top quality with these jackets. They come in three colorways: the "World Series Attitude" San Francisco Edition, "The Brooklyn Bomber" New York Edition, and "The Gold Rush" Special Edition. Each are priced at $480 and can be pre-ordered on their online shop.
You can also take some more detailed looks here.
As much as I love to support and grab as many BKc goodies as I can, these jackets are a little out of my price range at the moment; largely due to the various projects we have going on! More product updates sooner than you think!

I WISH THEY MADE THIS FOR GIRLS
This is a cool little project being done on this new blog I'm following On & Beyond.
"The amount of times I’ve actually heard a girl say “I WISH THEY MADE THIS FOR GIRLS” when looking at boys’ clothes goes beyond memory. From that quote, I’ve begun a little Photo Series project with some of the most gorgeous women in my life. Done right, the series should have that inexplicable upmh most guys feel when waking up and seeing a girl in his t-shirt and boxers. Dressed in my clothes, they will, one by one be featured on the blog. Here is the first of many to come."
This is such a cool concept, especially when trying to think of female specific garments. In many ways, it's easier on girls to shop despite what they may say. There are clothes for girl's specifically. And there are men's/boy's clothes that girls can customize and make into their own and still be extremely stylish. Guy's on the other had may have a hard time making a sequenced skirt look stylish (although I wouldn't rule it out).
"IT'S NOT WHAT YOU WEAR, IT'S HOW YOU WEAR IT."

Know Your Roots...
So...RUDE ETIQUETTE IS OFFICIALLY IN STORES!!! Know Your Roots was kind enough to carry some of our shirts in their San Jose store! We met the KYR guys back when we participated in the S.F. State event in what seems like a lifetime ago! It was a bit of a coincidence that KYR got in contact with us because in recent meetings, we talked about how we want to start seriously reaching out to some stores to carry us at the start of the new year. It was a true blessing out of no where and we couldn't be more excited with the opportunity! So, if you are in the South Bay or anywhere near San Jose, check out the Know Your Roots shop, take a look around, and pick up a Rude Etiquette shirt!

Take a look into an average day with Phillip T. Annand, the mastermind behind one of the finest online publications in the land: The Madbury Club. He's also behind the clothing line The Award Tour that has developed a cult like following after being just a project to make t-shirts for friends. Phil is a major inspiration. He's a young guy (younger than me!), going to school and doing inflential things, whether he knows it or not. Phil is destined to do even greater things than he's already done...I hope our paths will pass one day.

The Infinity Funk Project
The Infinity Funk Project is a four piece hip-hop from right here in our backyard. In fact, two of the members are semi-childhood friends. I say "semi-childhood" because I met one of them in middle school and the other in high school. I met Sol Solution, or Calvin Wong in the 8th grade; he was the new kid and our group kind of adopted him before he got too cool for us : /...haha...naw, just kidding! And I met Mild Mannered J or Justin Mak during my Junior(?) year of high school. Both these guys always had a passion for music. They're musical interests, and mine for that matter, were very different when we were younger. So, it's pretty cool to see they found their musical niche and they're excelling at it.
Each member of IFP brings a different style to the table, but collectively they bring back that Golden Era hip-hop feel and find a connect with today's modern state of hip-hop. But, don't take my word for it...check out the little documentary on them below and be sure to hear for yourself!
So here's to IFP and their future successes!
Keep up with the IFP chaps at www.infinityfunkproject.com and be sure to download all three of their mixtapes for FREE

Gilbere Forte' feat. Freelance Whales - 1st Floor from Gilbere Forte' on Vimeo.
Another video from Rude Etiquette favorite Gilbere Forte. This time for the first song and one of my favorite tracks off of Forte's most recent mixtape 87 Dreams. The song title "1st Floor" relates back to us right now because we feel like we're still at that 1st Floor. Heck, we're still in the garage right now; but, if you guys knew what we have in the works right now you would agree with us that we will definitely be on that 1st floor by the start of 2011! And it would just be the 1st floor in a building with no ceilings folks!
I'm debating on whether to share photos with you guys once we get some product in hand...hhhmmm

Fall for The Award Tour
The Award Tour is one of those brands that I look to for inspiration and motivation. Sadly, I have yet to own a single piece from them; but, I hope to change that with the release of their next "collection". I put quotes around "collection" because Phil of The Award Tour has stressed that this is not a collection or a season of any sort, but rather a release for friends and family. The Award Tour is just one avenue for Phil who also runs the wonderful Madbury Club and works on and is a part of a variety of influential projects; all while still going to school!
I love that the Award Tour doesn't necessarily release product according to "seasons", but almost on their own accord. The wait makes the product seem more exclusive and they sell out of their product quick! Rude have inadvertantly taken that route, but not really by choice. We are all bummed that we don't have enough time to work on Rude sometimes, but we are excited to say that we have quite a lot in the works right now and you should look out for new product in the near future! I'm just going to say that Rude Etiquette is quickly becoming more than just a graphic t-shirt kind of brand ; ).
Check out the product more pics and details after the jump!

PS: It didn't turn out the way I had hoped. Mainly due to the overabundance of text, which defeats my original reason to join Tumblr. And Tumblr's slideshow makes the pictures smaller : (. So, I promise next time LESS text so it's easier to read!
RUDE ETQT
About a week ago I started a Tumblr as in some ways an extension of this Rude Etiquette blog. It's officially called "RUDE ETQT"; it's a shorter name for Rude Etiquette (duh) and so is the blog. The majority of the blog is going to be images. In all honesty, the Tumblr blog is another avenue to use to try and gain some exposure for Rude, so the images you see on RUTE ETQT aren't going to be necessarily new. I have had some experience with Tumblr, and I actually did not like it. I use to describe Tumblr as the Myspace of the blogosphere because there were a lot of young/ignorant kids on it and Tumblr has it's own meter of "popularity" for you. But, all bullshit aside, Tumblr's greatest attribute is it's ability to share. So, hopefully you guys with Tumblr's can follow us and share our posts!
The BIGGEST feature to the Tumblr blog that will be EXCLUSIVE to RUDE ETQT is a new project I hope to take onto a bigger scale at some point. It's tentatively titled "PICTURE BOOK" and it's format is highly inspired by the Madbury Club with integrating text on pictures, much like a picture book : ). The main features will be of outfits styled by non-other than the Rudes and put spotlight upon apparel that inspire us or new Rude Etiquette product.
Tumblr doesn't limit the picture size like Blogger tends to do, which will allow me to show off the picture quality of my Canon Rebel! It also has a nifty picture slide effect when you add more than one photo to a blog post; so, you'll be able to view the PICTURE BOOK posts like a picture book flipping pages! I'm finishing up the first chapter of PICTURE BOOK as we speak, so check RUDE ETQT soon!

Rude Relief
In an effort to do our small part in helping the victims of the devastating San Bruno fire, we at Rude Etiquette are putting forth a percentage of our proceeds to helping the rebuilding of the homes that were lost and/or damaged and helping those who have been displaced by the fire.
I (Daryn) went to Capuchino High School in San Bruno and know many people/friends who live in San Bruno. I practically spent my entire adolescence in San Bruno; so, when I heard about the fire I immediately became worried. Luckily, all of them are safe (from what I've heard). But, some others weren't so lucky.
Hopefully you will all help in the cause. So, we're proposing that 100% of ANY Inauguration Collection tee and 20% of any other piece (Orange Wheel and Rudependence Day) will go to helping the victims. Thank you for helping us with the cause! And again, our thoughts & prayers are with everyone affected by the fire and those bravely fighting it. Be safe...

Rude Records: The Stuyvesants
"The Stuyvesants” is a collaborative effort between music producer Allan Cole (Algorythm), and record collector Darien Victor Birks (Flwrpt). Both reside in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, NY. The two wanted to work together on a project where they could incorporate several of their talents, related to music and design. They wanted to do this under a moniker that would pay homage to the ’70s. The collaboration allowed them to do four major things, design, beat dig, produce amazing music, and simply have fun. <--via "The Stuyvesants"
