A Well Worn Garment

Yes, I am again taking on a new project and a new site/blog. I tried and failed to create a blog that provided original content many, many, many times (most recently The Death March Formal); but, this time I purchased a URL and set up interviews/photoshoots with actual people. So, I guess there's no turning back, haha! Continue to read more about it!

A Well Worn Garment is my interpretation of the idea that people have their own individual taste in fashion/style. It is going to put light on the everyday person's personal "piece de resistance" article of clothing. Everyone has that one (or maybe two) pieces of clothing, whether it be a pair of shoes, a necklace, an old band tee, or an old pair of jeans, that can make an entire outfit or that you can wear any day of the week that makes you feel good on your shitty days.

A Well Worn Garment can also have a great story behind it. "Well Worn" is meant to mean either something that can be versatile in styling or mean something more than just a t-shirt etc. One of my original ideas was to take pictures of beat up/old clothes with a beautiful backdrop and try to bring new light to those "well worn" pieces of clothing. Many people feel pressured to try and stay up with the current trends or try to be just ahead of it; and in doing so most people forget that fashion is cyclical. Things that are trendy now were trendy years ago.

For example, the current obsession with Americana is based on the workwear fashion from the older blue collar workmen era, and people can never get enough of that Ivy League style (myself included). A lot of people go to their parents closets and wear their clothes because they're vintage and are trendy in that sense. That is A Well Worn Garment. Garments are meant to be worn; to be lived in. A Well Worn Garment is a peek into that life.

This is in no way meant to take time away from Rude Etiquette, but because Frank, Alison and I find it hard to garner time together for Rude, I feel that I have a little time to finally try and do this passion project I've been wanting to do since I discovered blogging. In fact, Frank is helping me with this project and Alison will find her way onto the site soon. The site is still being worked on; the first post will be up soon, although it will not be a standard AWWG post...check the next post on this blog for more info!
