Rudependence Day

It seems the Rudes love to make a habit of doing things last minute, which is something we'll probably have to change in the future; but, for now, we'll have to live with the fact that we do it like MJ in crunch time. Anyways, we planned on doing a July 4th tee a while ago and we also wanted to do some tank tops for the summer. SO, we're combining the two ideas and making a run of v-necks and tanks with a CRAZY cool flag inspired graphic. No sneak peak this time, the graphic(s) is that dope!

We're also finally busting our asses on the lack of a webstore and we are going to launch the new product simultaneously with a webstore this upcoming July 4th deemed "Rudependence Day"!!! We're trying to make up for the lack of activity from the Rude Etiquette team with some big steps and getting a webstore up is definitley one of the obstacles we were having trouble leaping over! Now all of you can purchase your Rude Etiquette gear hassel free! I'm also thinking of a special deal for the first few orders we recieve so keep an ear out for that! The best way, aside from following the blog, is to follow us on twitter! So PLEASE follow us (@rudeetiquette).

The BKc Made in USA Collection

The BKc does it again with their return to roots collection! Each garment in the new collection was made right here in the good ol' USA and as always the attention to detail and quality is impeccable. I went down this past Saturday to check out the new product at the BKc SF and picked myself up the short sleeve flower shirt pictured below:

The rest of the collection is availabe at The BKc Online Shop or down at the BKc SF on Fillmore. Below are some of my favorites from the new collection; I was VERY close to getting the green striped woven, but they ran out of my size :(. I'll be picking up some more stuff soon and you should too before they're all gone!

Levi Maestro's Infinity Piece

If you don't watch Levi Maestro's online series "Maestro Knows" than you don't know. Levi is a highly motivated and inspiring individual who does what he loves and loves what he does. I've been waiting for him to do SOMETHING with clothing/fashion that would be different (and by that I mean not just a graphic tee collabo with a brand in which they put "Maestro" on it). And lo and behold...

" I am very proud to announce today, my very first creation of design that will be made available to the public for purchase . After several months of working with Los Angeles based jeweler Shayan Afshar on what began as a personal project of dedication, I have finally come up with something that I feel is undeniable. I began this design with the intention to communicate that when I give my heart & my word to something, then my energy, my love, my mind, & of course my time become infinitely dedicated. Juxtaposing the materials of a translucent plastic band and a casing with a custom made bezel completely emerged in rose gold resulted with very original & classic qualities. This piece is set to be a reminder that when you give your all to something, anything becomes achievable. During the time I was recently in Paris my friend Mathieu from NBP came up with these nice photographs for me. " - Levi Maestro

Dude is on another level...infinitely timeless...

Black Scale: Day One

I found a old hard drive with some of our first lookbooks and random pictures of when Alfred and I started working on Black Scale a few years back. It’s crazy how time fly’s and when I think back to when we first started how much we didn’t know and working with what we had and be here today entering our 10th season. Today we still have so much to learn and so much to look forward to and still Alfred and I still don’t know what we are exactly doing. Haha. I know for a fact that starting a business needs capital and the support of family and friends and in this case a big reason why I am even here typing this is because we had so much help from our family and friends and one day to return that favor to everyone that have helped us along the way. Most are still here but some have gone away and one day I hope to see them and thank them for everything they done for us. We meet certain people for certain reasons and some of those reasons take place in a time of our lives when we need help most and I will never forget those people, even if our relationships don’t no longer exist I know you came in to our lives for a reason.

This was taken from the Black Scale blog. True inspiration. The escalation of Black Scale's success and growth as a brand leaves me in awe. I've pretty much given up on wearing anything streetwear, but there is something about Black Scale that transcends that. And to know that they too began at humble beginnings gives Rude

So thank you to everyone who has supported Rude Etiquette thus far and continue to, it means the world to us.

Chanel Cassette Clutch with Fox Tail!

So here's a little something for the ladies seeing as how someone *cough*Ali Rude*cough* finds it difficult to post anything on the Rudetants blog. I shall take it upon myself to expand the content of this blog. It seems to be garnering more attention than I thought it would :). And seeing as how Rude Etiquette as a brand is more than just clothing (at least we hope to be in the future), including other things than men's wear/street wear makes sense. I enjoyed posting about the BMW Art Car; it was something different and refreshing for me as a blogger in general.

...anyways...

Here's a Chanel Cassette clutch that Luxirare added some flash to with a fox tail. In all honesty, as cool as the fox tail is, the fact that the clutch is a cassette tape is what caught my attention. I am part of a the last few remaining generations who can remember a cassette tape (oh, the rewinding and forwarding and reeling the tape back in ~sigh~) and I just think this bag is really cool. I'm not too sure how practical it actually is, seeing as how it's see through and it seems to be made of plastic so your personal belongings would raddle inside; but, fashion tips toward the aesthetic over the practical at times I suppose.

The Madbury Club

The Madbury Club! from The Madbury Club on Vimeo.

Phil, the young genius behind The Award Tour has had The Madbury Club in the works for a little while and I have been eagerly anticipating to see what it actually is. Yes, I, amongst many others, have been enamored by this club that we know nothing about. But, seeing as how progressive (at least to me) The Award Tour and it's Good Times blog is, I'm sure that The Madbury Club will be nothing short of amazing. The promotional video above is great marketing and features the likes of Ray of Mighty Healthy and Ouigi aka The Bearded Man from my favorite, The Brooklyn Circus. So, there are some big hitters involved and supporting...I just hope I can find my way into The Madbury Club as well :)

Rude Aventure: June 3, 2010

It was a BEAUTIFUL day in the Bay today and Frankly Rude and I decided to head down to the warmer South Bay to visit our friends down at Purist! It was so warm in San Jose, and we tagged along with some of the crew (Richard and Ralph) to grab some lunch for the rest of the staff at La Victoria or "La Vic's" as the locals call it. Kevin was at the shop when we returned with the grub and I saw that he was sporting the new Futura Lab x Purist collabo tee. And they just so happened to have announced it on Hypebeast when we first got to the shop! Here's a look:

Go pick some up either at the shop on 55 Devine St. in San Jose or on their webstore on their site www.puristboutique.com. They only produced 33 in the black colorway and 23 in the white, so get them before they're gone!

After Purist, we headed over to a screen printing shop to handle some business and hopefully we'll have some new product for all of you this summer. We know we've been promising some new product to you guys and we're working hard on trying to fulfill our promise! Trust us! We try and find as much time as we can trying to work on Rude! These little trips may not seem like work, but it's all part of the branding and just getting ourselves out there aspect for Rude Etiquette. Meeting great new friends like the guys at Purist is just an added bonus for us!

We also took a brief trip to Japantown in San Jose to stop by the Aristocrats boutique. A nice little shop that carries Gourmet footwear, IMPRM, 5th Column, Triumvir, Amongst Friends, and other cool brands.

Check them out if you haven't down on 161 Jackson St. in San Jose or online at www.aristocratsboutique.com

Overall another successful Rude adventure!

Mr. Harrington and Mr. Chino

Here's a preview/sample of the Harrington Jacket that Mr. will be releasing in the fall. Again, Mr. has successfully put their own stamp on a classic garment with their AWESOME dip dye. I think they may be teetering on whether to do this gradient look or the solid, but I'm definitely feeling this gradient look! There is some great detail to the jacket as well like the shirt cuff detailing on it which you can see along with more detaile looks here

Mr. is also going to be releasing a slim fitting (not skinny) chino that are coming in a khaki, black, and grey colorway. Just another classic piece to add to a man's closet! More detailed looks of the chino here

BMW Art Car by Jeff Koons

Semi-tribute to Frankly Rude's love of BMW's. I personally am not too into cars, but this definitely caught my eye. Here is some more information about this cool project:

Since 1975, artists from throughout the world have turned BMW automobiles into art signifying a particular period through the Art Car programme. In 2007, the latest instalment was revealed with Olafur Eliasson’s “Your mobile expectations: BMW H2R project.” Many of the cars by the likes of Warhol, Lichtenstein, Stella, Rauschenberg, Hockney and Holzer have been exhibited in renowned museums throughout the world including the Louvre, the Guggenheim Museums, and the Shanghai Art Museum. They have been displayed at the BMW Museum in Munich, between 2006 and 2010 and many went on a world tour throughout Asia, Russia, Africa, India, the United States and Mexico.

The Koons car number, “79”, pays tribute to the 1979 Andy Warhol car. The Warhol car was assigned the number “76,” an homage to the 1976 Frank Stella car, both of which raced at Le Mans. The home of all BMW Art Cars is the BMW Museum in Munich. Starting in September, Koons’ 17th BMW Art Car will be presented there together with some of its predecessors.
With over 100 major projects worldwide, BMW Group cultural programmes have been an integral part of the company’s contributions to society for almost 40 years. Besides contemporary art, architecture and design, classical music and jazz are key components of this engagement.

As part of his creative process, the artist collected images of race cars, related graphics, vibrant colours, speed and explosions. The resulting artwork of bright colours conceived by Koons is evocative of power, motion and bursting energy. With its silver interior as well as the powerful exterior design, the Art Car will impart a dynamic appearance even when it’s standing still.

Travelling back and forth to Germany many times since the 2nd February announcement that Koons would create the 17th BMW Art Car, the artist has worked with the BMW engineering and design teams to conduct in-depth explorations of materials and application options that will prove crucial to optimizing both the aesthetic and aerodynamic attributes of the race car. Working with actual 3-D computer-aided design (CAD) models of the BMW M3 GT2, Koons was able to simulate the application of the graphic to the car’s surfaces and evaluate it from all angles.

Under Koons’ direct guidance and supervision, his BMW Art Car was produced in association with a team of BMW engineers and designers at Schmid Design, near Munich. The challenge to create the BMW Art Car had to do with using a light material and a design that would not interfere with the race car’s aerodynamics and weight. Timing was also an issue, as there was only a two month window between the first design sketches and the Paris world premiere. This is why digital print on car wrapping vinyl was used covered by a double clear-coating to bring out the colour.

there's also a brief video of the production of the car here

Vintage Steez

I recieved a random e-mail the other day from a Sam Gold asking if we could shed some light on his webstore of vintage products. So, I checked out the website and dug what I saw. It has a very clean aesthetic and has some cool stuff being sold on there as well. Most of it is vintage Ralph Lauren with some cool vintage snapbacks and some other accessories.

So of course I agreed to write a post! Sam Gold is actually apart of the Key City Collective; a group of musicians, artists, etc. based in Dallas that started their own clothing complany in 2007. They recently decided to start selling vintage clothing and Sam explained to me: "for us it has really always been about quality material whether its our own clothing or clothing by outside vendors, the stuff comes from all over, mostly mom and pop places but we frequently take trips around to different areas to dig for stuff, its kinda time consuming but I actually have a lot of fun looking and finding vintage stuff."

Here's a little of what they have, although the teddy bear has been sold.

Please check out and cop some gear at keycityvintage.blogspot.com and keep up with the Key City Collective
