Chocolate Craftsmen: The Mast Brothers

The Mast Brothers from The Scout on Vimeo.

"Any idea that makes us nervous or scared that it won't happen, we know that we're definitely onto something..."

"It's something beautiful more than anything..."

(sorry for the recent string of videos, I guess I'm in my periodic state of mind where I need some inspiration/reminding that following my passions and dreams is not so far fetched)

The Mast Brothers, located in Brooklyn, NY take crafting chocolate back to it's simplistic beauty. The chocolate is shipped in and made in house along with the wrapping of the chocolate. It may not be a revolution, but (to me) it is a revelation.

Black Scale Spring/Summer 2011 Lookbook Video Pt. I

Black Scale pt. 1 from The WereHaus™ on Vimeo.

In it's ongoing evolution as a brand, Black Scale continues to grow; and by what they reveal in this short but sweet lookbook, BS is ready to step out of the graphic tee world confidently and take over! From button-ups to a vest, it seems that Black Scale is primed to establish itself as a CLOTHING brand and not just a STREETWEAR brand in the upcoming year. Big ups Mega, you doing the Bay PROUD!

Call Me A Hipster, But You Should Really Call Me "Mister"

I don't know if any of you remember a post I did about a month ago about the Mr. Harrington jacket. I expressed how excited I was about the jacket and about the gradient colorway in particular. Unfortunately, Mister decided against doing the gradient colorway. They wanted to do it as a limited piece, but there was just no way for it to happen. FORTUNATELY for ME, Mr. let me cop the gradient sample! Yep! I own the only Mr. Harrington jacket in the gradient colorway! And I have to say that it is B E A U T I F U L. The jacket is the Mr. take on a classic men's piece. It is 100% polyester shell (it's SUPER SOFT) and has a button cuff which (in my opinion) adds so much more character to the jacket. The jacket was dip dyed to get the gradient look and it's done to perfection. The light blue stitching throughout the jacket adds great contrast to the parts of the jacket that are more grey, especially at the pocket folds.

Farewell To The Great

I was saddened (and still am) when I found out that Gabe The Great of The BKc SF is heading back to Brooklyn. The Brooklyn Circus was a big influence on why I wanted to start my own clothing brand and Gabe was never short supportive and inspirational when I would visit the shop. The success of the BKc is something that we at Rude Etiquette are aspiring for; not just their three locations and ability to sell out of their product (haha). But, their positive attitude and the way they inspire and influence people. I can honestly say that San Francisco/the Bay Area was a lot less fashionable than it could be before the BKc and that includes myself. It's hard to admit, but the people in New York just have a more unique taste than the standard skinny jeans, Vans and Stussy shirt that people seem to wear here in SF. The BKc dares you to get out of your comfort zone and be yourself, and therefore, different.

So here's to Gabe! Thank you for all you have done and accomplished here in SF! Good luck to your further endeavors in Brooklyn and I hope you come and visit the BKc SF soon!

Rude For Thought: Fugazi

Read a great spread on The Madbury Club entitled "American Hardcore". I was initially shocked that The Madbury Club would even cover Hardcore music, but then was not surprised seeing as how they cover almost every genre of everything. But, it just got me wanting to listen to some Fugazi, even though they're more post-hardcore than hardcore. But, with Ian MacKaye in the mix, hardcore is never too far... "out of step with the world"

Purist x Huf Collabo Tee

On To the Next One...

Despite our recent hardships with trying to get the online shop up and other things in order with Rude Etiquette, we are still happy with the progress we've made and are making. But, we are all frustrated in our current predicament, and we have to keep reminding ourselves that "each step is an arrival". We sincerely apologize for not having the online shop up for the July 1 date. We were working very hard at trying to launch it by then. I won't go into detail about what we're dealing with; let's just say that skipping steps can ultimately lead to taking more unwanted steps in the future. BUT, we did successfully get our Rudependence Day pieces done and (just reminding you) they are now available for purchase. Sizes are limited and are going fast! We have already run out of the Rudependence tanks in XL!! The XS and S sizes are not far behind! So, please send your order requests to sales@rudeetiquette.com. The pieces are on American Apparel and are unisex, so request your sizes accordingly.

Regardless of whatever hardships we're dealing with right now, we are still looking forward and trying to keep our word at putting out product on a more regular basis. We know what our next project is and are VERY VERY excited about it. We've got some people from different places helping us out with this one ; ). So, please be on the look out for updates on that! The only thing I'll hint is this: R.E.P.C.

I've also spruced up the blog a little bit with a new section down at the bottom of the blog titled the "All City Rude League", which is simply a place where you can find links to the (blogs of the) brands/shops that have helped us out and supported Rude Etiquette pretty much from Day 1. Whether or not they consider us family, we consider them family and appreciate their support and friendship more than words can express. So, if you have not checked out any of the brands/shops linked below...PLEASE DO.

We are working as hard as we can on the online shop situation, and if all goes according to plan we should have it up no later than the end of the month. Thank you all for being patient with us and showing your support!

Levi's Tailor and Work Shop

I can't express how lucky we are to be the HQ of Levi Strauss. We get to witness all the cool things that Levi does (outside of the cool stuff they do in Japan). They had the Opening Ceremony collabo a while back and now they hit us with a custom Tailor Shop on the bottom floor of the flagship store in Union Square and a cool workshop on Valencia St. in the city. The Tailor Shop pretty much lets you do whatever you want to customize your jeans; from patches, to embroidering to screen printing. Whereas the workshop helps educate people about the world of print, from books to silk screening. More info on the workshop can be read here: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/07/02/LVKO1E66ST.DTL or you can visit the website: http://workshops.levi.com/. Be sure to check out both shops!

iPhone 4 with DSLR Lens

This one's for Frankly Rude, who stood in line from 5:30AM-3PM (9 hours!) to get his iPhone 4!!!!!! (???????)

Apple’s new iPhone 4 has exceeded the expectations of many, yet its 5-megapixed camera is outdated compared to some of its competitors like HTC’s Evo 4G, which has an 8-megapixel camera. A recent prototype around the net shows how a distinct character created a special tripod to attach a DSLR lens to the iPhone 4. A creation like this can certainly help a traveling photographer who is not keen to carrying equipment around or interest one who wants to enter the world of photography. -
