Benny Gold Grand Opening/Afterparty

So, the Rudes found a way to make it to the Bennny Gold grand opening of his retail shop. It's located on 3171 21st St. in the Mission so please check it out if you have the chance. The event started at 2PM and we didn't get there until close to 6, so I'm guessing it died down a bit; although there were still a lot of people and the taco truck was still out front and good music was still being played. Frankly Rude and I made sure to get some tees in support of Benny (Ali couldn't considering all he carries is menswear). But, in all honesty, the Rudes felt a little out of place. First off, we don't personally know Benny (yet), we don't skate, and we didn't see any of the people we thought were going to be at the opening. But, Frankly did bump into an acquaintance: Ralph, who happens to work at the Purist Boutique in San Jose. This would be a forshadow of the night to come :).

After hitting up the shop, we were all VERY hungry; so, Frankly suggested Cha Cha Cha's, which was just down the block.

Unfortunately, because of it's popularity, we either had to find a seat at the bar or wait for an hour (although it seemed like there were many seats available...reservations i guess). And we could not sit at the bar because Ali Rude has yet to reach the tender age of 21. SO...instead we went next door to Charanga and were delighted to find that their food was AMAZING!

SANGRIA FOR D_RUDE AND FRANKLY RUDE! MmMmMmMm

NOTHING FOR ALI RUDE :(...(but that's not to say that she didn't have ANY alcohol for the night ;)

After a very satisfying dinner, the Rudes were going to call it a night and go to BJ's for a pazookie. BUT, on the way to the car we ran into Ralph and the Purist crew. So, we decided to stop by the afterparty for a bit, with Ali Rude not being able to get in as a concern. The afterparty was being held at Laszlo (next to it is Foreign Cinema which is supposed to be a very good, but expensive, restaurant). So, rolling deep with the Purist crew, we just walked into the lounge, hassel free (and home free for Ali!). It was great, we got to know the guys from Purist, all of them really great people. We talked to Kevin, the owner, about business, Rude Etiquette, the pitfalls of womenswear, and the evolution of Purist as a boutique and brand. It was all really good, and Richard, the Assistant Manager of the shop was very encouraging. So, if you're ever in San Jose, stop by the Purist Boutique and say what up to the guys! The Rudes will very soon!

Another great thing about hitting up the afterparty was running into Jerry of Bows & Arrows in Berkeley. As some of you may or may not know, Bows & Arrows is probably my favorite shoe store in the Bay Area. They provide the best selection of shoes and just a great clean aesthetic store wise. Anyways, I actually didn't know Jerry all too well before yesterday night. The biggest exchange I had with him before was just complimenting him on his shoe selection at the shop while I was buying a pair of Vans. But, Jerry is super chill and I probably had the best conversation about shoes I've EVER had with him. Sounds kind of dumb, but it was a very enlightening conversation. Keep in mind that there were other things talked about in the conversation haha...not just shoes! So, please check out the shop if you're ever in Berkeley and keep a lookout for their online shop!

By the end of the night we were all tired! But, we still craved some pazookie, and Frankly had never had one, so we HAD to go get some!
